Introducing TychoTeam…

After more than 25 years working at two fantastic IT consultancies in Los Angeles and Portland, I’ve decided it’s time to step out and build my own IT consulting business. My focus is on the kinds of clients I’ve always enjoyed working with most: small to medium-sized businesses and organizations whose IT needs have outgrown what they can handle themselves, but who aren’t ready to hire a full in-house team.

I’ve named my company TychoTeam.

Who is Tycho?

Tycho Brahe was a Renaissance polymath and one of the last great astronomers before the invention of the telescope. Using only the naked eye and the ingenious instruments he built into his observatories, Tycho achieved unmatched precision in tracking the movements of stars and planets.

In 1572, he meticulously documented a brilliant “new star” in the sky—what we now call Tycho’s Supernova. At a time when most people believed the heavens were fixed and eternal, his discovery showed that the universe could change. His data reshaped how the world understood the cosmos, fueled discoveries for centuries, and inspired generations of astronomers, including his protege, Johannes Kepler.

Why TychoTeam?

I see my company’s work as a modern echo of Tycho’s.

And we approach every project with humility, knowing there is always the possibility of a better way. Just as Tycho’s observations revealed that even the “fixed” stars could change, we believe IT should never be locked into rigid assumptions. There’s always room for discovery, for improvement, and for new solutions that help our clients thrive.

And like Tycho, who shared his knowledge so others could make breakthroughs, we make sure what we learn benefits not just us, but the people we serve.

At TychoTeam, that’s our ethos: careful observation, deep understanding, humility in the face of complexity, and a commitment to helping others shine.
